Mary, completed front view by asantell Mary, completed front view by asantell
Pine, maple, ornamental pear, cedar, lots of deck screws, 2011-2012

A shot from this past spring of the completed commission, a slightly over life size statue of Mary, with a sheltering shrine built from branches downed by 2011's freak October snowstorm, and hand split shingles from a tree downed by a previous storm. One of those situations where a project just kept growing, I worked on and off on this for just over a year.

Thanks, been the biggest thing I've done, and definitely geared me up for something else on a similar scale. I now have the materials as well, stay tuned for what i wind up doing with the ~100 foot oak that Sandy dropped on top of my van...
